Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2: Best Buy lists nine Canadian stores with launch-night stock
November 1, 2026

Nintendo’s C$709.99 special edition launched Oct. 29. Best Buy Canada says nine stores, including Toronto’s Bay & Dundas, will have limited quantities during the Nov. 4–5 Ocarina of Time event, with at least 75 consoles per participating store.
The gold-and-green 40th-anniversary Switch 2
Nintendo’s special-edition Switch 2 launched in Canada on October 29 at C$709.99. Its black-and-gold dock carries a Triforce motif, while the Joy-Con 2 controllers use green and gold accents. The package includes the 256 GB console, dock, controllers and accessories, but no game.
The finish is the headline difference, not a new hardware revision: Nintendo lists the same 7.9-inch LCD screen and 1080p handheld resolution as the standard system. In TV mode, it supports up to 4K output on compatible displays. Buyers are paying for the anniversary styling, so the regular Switch 2 remains the more direct value comparison for players who care more about function than the collectible look.
Best Buy’s launch-night event is the clearest restock lead
Best Buy Canada says nine stores will reopen late for the November 4–5 launch of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Toronto’s Bay & Dundas location is scheduled for midnight Eastern Time on November 5. The other participating locations span Vancouver, Richmond, Coquitlam, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Brampton, Ottawa East and Montreal; check the retailer’s listing for each store’s local opening time.
The retailer says the event is open to everyone and does not require a ticket. It is a walk-in opportunity, not a reservation or announced online restock. Check the location page again before travelling in case timing or participation changes.
Quantities are limited—and the fine print matters
Best Buy’s event listing says each participating store will have a minimum of 75 anniversary consoles, 50 special-edition controllers and 175 game copies. Purchases are in-store only, available while supplies last, and limited to one of each item per household. Those posted figures describe a minimum event allocation, not a promise every visitor will find stock after doors open.
Nintendo’s Canadian product listing showed the console as sold out when checked on November 1. Best Buy’s event stock is a separate, store-based channel; the announcement does not promise online replenishment or a broader national restock. If you are set on this edition, plan around the specific store’s posted time and expect a queue rather than treating the quantity as a reservation.
Who should consider the anniversary edition?
At C$709.99, the special edition makes most sense for buyers who specifically want the black-and-gold dock and green-and-gold controllers, or for collectors marking the series’ 40th anniversary. Nintendo lists the same core console specifications as the standard model, so there is no advertised performance advantage to offset the price premium if the finish is not a draw.
Budget separately for software: Nintendo says no game is included. The Ocarina of Time release is scheduled for November 5, but the console can be used without buying it. That lets shoppers weigh the limited hardware against their plans instead of assuming the anniversary box is a game bundle.

The linked tracker below is for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the only game discussed here. The console’s C$709.99 price is separate from the game, and retailer availability may change; check the listing before making a trip.
The anniversary console itself is hardware, not a game listing, so it does not appear in the tracker. For the most reliable event information, use Best Buy’s location page and Nintendo Canada’s product listing above.
