The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered is now a free Switch 2 upgrade for owners
October 3, 2026

CD PROJEKT RED’s remaster is live on Nintendo Switch 2, with a free upgrade path for Switch owners and motion-control support built for the new hardware.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered is now available on Nintendo Switch 2. CD PROJEKT RED describes it as a modernized release with visual, performance and gameplay improvements, and says the native Switch 2 version is a free upgrade for people who own the original Nintendo Switch version. The developer’s launch notice confirms the September 29 release and the included expansions.
The upgrade path is the big Canadian takeaway
Existing Switch owners do not need to buy the remaster again to access the native Switch 2 version. CD PROJEKT RED lists the upgrade as free for qualifying owners, making this one of the simplest ways to carry an existing role-playing library into Nintendo’s newer hardware generation.
New buyers can find the digital listing through the Nintendo Canada store page. Juiso’s current Canadian price check is $79.99 CAD, while owners of the earlier release should first look for the upgrade option instead of paying for a second copy.
What is new on Switch 2
The native version is more than a resolution bump. CD PROJEKT RED calls out enhanced visuals and performance, improved combat, a reworked skill system, refreshed animations and cross-platform mod support on the broader remaster release.
Switch 2 also gets hardware-specific motion controls. The studio says players can aim the crossbow, throw bombs, cast signs, drink potions and adjust Roach’s speed with motion input, giving handheld and docked players an optional alternative to the standard controls.
The complete package is included
The remaster includes the base adventure plus Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. That means a new purchaser gets the full story package, while returning players can revisit a very large campaign with the upgrade’s technical and quality-of-life changes in place.
CD PROJEKT RED is also positioning the release as a foundation for the next chapter of the property. The studio has announced Songs of the Past for 2027, but it has not announced a Canadian price or a Switch 2 launch date for that future expansion, so those details should not be confused with today’s release.
