Nintendo Switch Sports Resort launches October 22: Canadian price, sports and bundle guide
October 19, 2026
Nintendo Switch Sports Resort launches exclusively on Switch 2 on October 22 at C$69.99. Here are the 12 sports, online caveat, download size and Canadian bundle math before launch day.
The resort opens this Thursday
Nintendo Switch Sports Resort launches exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 on October 22. Nintendo Canada’s latest preview confirms 12 sports, solo and multiplayer options, and motion controls built around the Joy-Con 2 controllers. That makes the release a clear Switch 2-only purchase rather than another game arriving on both generations of hardware.

The Canadian product page lists the digital game at C$69.99 and estimates a 16 GB download. It supports TV and tabletop play, with one to four players on a single system. Nintendo also cautions that online features require Nintendo Switch Online and a Nintendo Account, while additional accessories may be needed for some multiplayer setups. Those details are worth checking before a family game night.
Twelve sports, with two new ways to play
The lineup mixes familiar activities with two headline additions. Thumb Wrestling asks players to pin an opponent’s thumb for three seconds, while Skateboarding uses Joy-Con 2 mouse controls for grinds, slides and aerial tricks. The returning group includes Power Cruising, Archery, Bowling, Table Tennis, Boxing, Prop Plane, Tennis, Volleyball, Basketball and Golf. Jump Rope is available as a warm-up, but Nintendo presents it separately from the 12 main sports.
The variety is also the game’s practical pitch. Nintendo Life’s preview roundup describes a positive early consensus, while Game Informer’s hands-on highlights an explorable Wuhu Island that can be traversed by skateboard, prop plane and power cruiser. Those are previews, not a final review, but they suggest Resort is designed as much for short group sessions as for long solo play.
Wuhu Island is more than a menu
Nintendo’s store page frames Resort as an island getaway rather than a simple list of minigames. Players can create and customize a Sportsmate or Mii, explore sightseeing spots, collect Spocco Photos and move around the island with the new controller-focused activities. Nintendo Life also reports that the overview trailer emphasizes free island exploration, which gives the hub a larger role than a standard sport-selection screen.
The online details are deliberately narrower on the Canadian listing: Nintendo confirms online play but says the number of players online will be provided in the future. The U.S. store page currently lists online play for two to 16 players, including private Friend Lobbies, but Canadian buyers should treat Nintendo Canada’s page as the regional reference if the wording or availability changes before launch. Nintendo Switch Online remains a paid requirement for online features.

Standalone game or Canadian bundle?
The standalone digital game is listed at C$69.99. Nintendo Canada’s Switch 2 + Sports Resort bundle launches the same day at C$724.99 and includes the console, a full digital download of Resort and a three-month Nintendo Switch Online Individual Membership. Nintendo says that package saves C$36.98 against buying the components separately, although the offer is subject to availability and the membership terms.
The bundle is therefore aimed at two different Canadian shoppers: someone buying a Switch 2 for the first time, or a household that wants a ready-to-play family package. Existing Switch 2 owners only need the game, and they should remember that the bundle’s savings are not a discount on the standalone software. Nintendo’s retail-offers page repeats the C$724.99 MSRP and notes that the included membership terms differ for Quebec consumers.
What to know before launch day
The safest expectation is a polished motion-sports party game, not a conventional story campaign. GeekDad’s preview and Switchaboo’s PAX Aus preview both describe hands-on sessions focused on the sports and Wuhu Island, while GamingBoulevard’s preview emphasizes the island exploration and new activities. None of those previews should be read as a final review or a promise about post-launch support.
For launch day, clear a safe space, attach the wrist straps and decide whether you need extra Joy-Con 2 controllers. The game supports solo play and same-system multiplayer, but Nintendo says accessories can be required for some modes. If you plan to play online, confirm your Nintendo Switch Online membership and Nintendo Account before October 22; if you are buying the bundle, check the membership terms at checkout rather than assuming every province follows identical wording.
