Three Game Boy classics are coming to Nintendo Classics on October 27

October 24, 2026

Avenging Spirit, Mole Mania and Pinball: Revenge of the 'Gator join the Game Boy library for Nintendo Switch Online members next week. Here is what each plays like and what Canadian players need to access them.

The October update lands on both Switch systems

Nintendo of America’s October Game Boy Classics announcement names three additions for October 27, 2026: Avenging Spirit, Mole Mania and Pinball: Revenge of the 'Gator. They are being added to the Game Boy – Nintendo Classics collection, not announced as separate eShop releases. The official Nintendo announcement and October update video establish the date and lineup.

For Canadian players, Nintendo Canada lists Game Boy among the classic-game libraries included with Nintendo Switch Online. The library is available on both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, so the update is not a Switch 2-exclusive release. Nintendo’s Classic Games page is the regional reference for which systems and collections are currently supported.

Three games, three different mechanics

Avenging Spirit is an action-platformer built around possession: the player-controlled ghost can take over other characters. That mechanic gives the game a different rhythm from a conventional side-scrolling action game, because the playable body can change as the ghost moves through a level. The possession mechanic is described in the official update video.

In Mole Mania, the puzzle-solving revolves around pushing, pulling and throwing black balls, then digging through soft ground to reach underground routes. Pinball: Revenge of the 'Gator takes a more direct arcade approach, using flippers, targets and lanes across four main stages plus three bonus stages. Nintendo’s game descriptions, also summarized in NintendoEverything’s October report, support those basic mechanics; the three titles add distinct play styles rather than three similar action games.

The standard Canadian membership covers this library

The Game Boy collection sits in the standard Nintendo Switch Online membership. Nintendo Support says an active membership is needed to access the classic-game apps; the Expansion Pack adds other system libraries but is not required for this Game Boy batch. See Nintendo’s membership FAQ before subscribing or changing plans.

Nintendo Canada currently lists the standard individual membership at C$5.99 per 30 days after the displayed trial offer, with other terms and renewal details on its Canadian membership page. These games do not have individual Canadian eShop prices in the announcement because they are offered through the subscription library. Check Nintendo’s current terms for the plan that fits your household; the 30-day amount is not the only available option.

What Switch 2 owners should expect before Tuesday

Switch 2 owners can use the Game Boy Classics library, but Nintendo has not announced a dedicated Switch 2 edition or a title-specific visual upgrade for these games. The confirmed news is their arrival in the existing Game Boy collection on October 27. Availability is tied to the classic-game app and an active qualifying membership, rather than a standalone purchase.

Nintendo has not announced a rollout time for the update, so the date is the reliable planning detail. If the new titles do not appear immediately on October 27, check the Nintendo Classics app and Nintendo’s support information for an update rather than assuming a precise release hour. Nintendo’s support FAQ also notes that additional classic titles do not follow a fixed published schedule.
