Cult of the Lamb’s Switch 2 version arrives October 22 with a free upgrade
October 17, 2026
Existing Switch owners can upgrade Cult of the Lamb for free on Switch 2 October 22. New buyers pay the same as the Switch version; Canadian Switch 2 pricing and technical details are not posted yet.
A Switch 2 version lands next week
Developer Massive Monster has announced that Cult of the Lamb is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on October 22. The studio’s official announcement says people who already own the game on Nintendo Switch can upgrade for free. That gives current players a clear reason to check the eShop next week instead of buying the game a second time.

For new buyers, the developer says the Switch 2 version will cost the same amount as the original Switch version. The short post confirms the release date and price parity, but does not spell out a Canadian Switch 2 listing, regional price, or step-by-step redemption process. That distinction matters: the offer is confirmed, while some practical details still need to appear in the store.
What the offer means for Canadian players
Nintendo Canada's Halloween game collection lists the original Switch version at C$27.99, and its store page says that edition is supported on Switch 2 with behaviour consistent with the Switch version. The new release therefore arrives against a useful baseline: Canadians can already play the existing version, but Nintendo has not yet posted a separate Switch 2 product page in the listing reviewed for this article.
The developer’s same-price statement suggests the Switch 2 edition should match the Switch version’s price, but C$27.99 is not yet an explicitly listed Canadian Switch 2 price. Check Nintendo’s Canadian store when the new version appears before treating that figure as final. For an owner, the headline benefit is simpler: Massive Monster says the upgrade itself is free.
The upgrade’s limits are still unclear
Massive Monster has not said what changes in this Switch 2 version. There is no confirmed resolution, frame-rate target, shorter loading time, or feature specific to the hardware in the announcement. Nintendo Life’s report and Siliconera’s coverage likewise note that the post gave no technical specification, so it would be premature to promise a particular visual or performance upgrade.
The post also does not explain how a physical Switch copy will qualify, whether saved progress carries over, or how add-ons are handled. Nintendo’s general Switch 2 Edition support guide says upgrade contents and methods vary by game; it is useful background, not confirmation of Cult of the Lamb’s exact process. Noisy Pixel and NintendoEverything report the same gap in the announcement.

What to check on October 22
If you already own the Switch edition, wait for the Switch 2 store entry and confirm that your ownership is recognized before purchasing anything. Pixel Herald’s report links the developer’s post and repeats its free-upgrade promise, but the announcement itself leaves the redemption steps open. Until the listing appears, the existing Switch edition remains the version Nintendo Canada says behaves consistently on Switch 2.
If you are buying for the first time, compare the eventual Canadian Switch 2 listing with the current C$27.99 Switch price rather than assuming a U.S. or Japanese store price applies here. Game Beacon and Game*Spark also report the October 22 date and price-parity claim; Game*Spark’s yen pricing is specific to Japan. The cautious move for Canadian shoppers is to check the eShop on launch day for the local price and any newly published feature or ownership details.
